Finding a psychiatrist can be a struggle. I would like to lessen that struggle by providing some key information about myself and my practice. I hope I get the opportunity to be your psychiatrist.

Working with adults struggling with all kinds of mental health challenges is something I enjoy. My specialties are mood and anxiety disorders, especially in women. I completed medical school and my psychiatric training at the world-renowned Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, where I graduated with AOA Honors, and have been seeing patients in the outpatient setting since 2001.

If you are searching for an average psychiatrist who likes to prescribe medications endlessly and at high doses, that description would not fit the way I operate. Psychiatric medications often have side effects and are not always effective. I believe in using the minimal amount of medication for as little time as possible. Sometimes this is just one medication for a year; sometimes that is not possible and multiple medications, for longer periods of time, are required. It depends on the individual. I work with my patients to find the best solution for their specific, individual needs.

A little bit about me: I was born and raised in Chicago by my Thai-American parents. I have 2 children, one in college and one in high school. In my spare time, I love to read, listen to music, keep active, and spend time with my dogs.

I no longer accept insurance. However, you may be able to get much of the cost of the visit covered by submitting a claim yourself to your insurance company (except for Medicare) using the superbill provided after each visit.

Visits can be done in my office at Chesterfield Counseling Associates or online. The fee for an initial 1.5 hour appointment is $500 and is $210 for 25 minute follow-up visits, whether done in person or online. I also offer longer 50 minute follow-up visits for $300. These longer appointments are a great option for those of you who prefer to see one person for both medications and therapy rather than seeing 2 different providers.
